Goldberg, who has dabbled in movie work in the past, has a pretty full-looking slate in 2016. He's starring in Check Point, an action war film and Enter the Fist and the Golden Fleecing, which has one of the most incredible eclectic casts of any film ever made (we're talking Ron Jeremy, Maryse, Danny Trejo and Goldberg in the same film here). Most interesting of all, however, is Soulmates which (according to IMDb) is about 'two young singer-songwriters who have been metaphysically dreaming about each other since they were children'. There's a lot of veteran talent in this indie drama (budgeted at $6,000,000), including Kevin Pollack and Daniel Baldwin. The former WCW and WWE Champion will play the role of 'Robby Burly', which is about as good an 80s action hero name as you're bound to find these days. But it doesn't sound like Goldberg will be tasked with delivering any spears in this one. The concept sounds serious, if not perhaps a little hokey, and Goldberg might very well have to show actual emotion rather than just, you know, grunting and being pissed off at everything. Whether or not it reaches the heights of the absolutely insane Santa's Slay remains to be seen, but Soulmates sounds like an interesting project and a change of pace for Goldberg.
