10 Must-See WWE Dark Matches

5. Brock Lesnar And Ron Waterman Vs Rico Constantino And Randy Orton

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfefdG4N5Uk Two of the biggest wrestling debuts in 2002 were undoubtedly that of Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton. Both men are now multiple time world champions and are two of the most prominent and important wrestlers on WWE programming. Both Orton and Lesnar went through several dark matches before their debut in order to test audience reactions to them, as a way of predicting whether they'd get over or not. In this match, we see the team of big men Brock Lesnar and Ron 'H20' Waterman against the agile team of Randy Orton and Rico Constantino. The first thing you notice is that while Brock Lesnar's move-set and attire seems to be the same as he had on the main roster, Randy Orton seems to act more as a high-flier, as a fast and agile competitor, in dire contrast to the slow, power based move-set that he gradually transitioned to after his debut. Lesnar doesn't do all that much in the match, while Ron Waterman gets double teamed by Rico and Randy for the victory. The team of Rico and Randy was surprisingly good, while Lesnar and Waterman could have been impressive, if they were allowed to appear as dominant monsters. Rico, Randy and Brock would all debut that year in 2002, while former MMA and UFC star Ron Waterman never made it out of developmental.
