https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwRWdI6VtS8 Even a 15-time wrestling World Champion has to start somewhere. Before he was known as John Cena, he went under the moniker 'The Prototype', originally used a semi-robotic character in UPW. After two years in OVW developmental, they tested the waters for John's debut with a number of dark matches before Smackdown and Raw tapings. Seventeen days before his debut against Kurt Angle, The Prototype appeared in a pre-Raw dark match against Scott Vick, who you may or may not know as Sick Boy from his days in Raven's Flock in WCW. The match shows Cena as a classic heel, he frequently argues counts and even shouts 'Ask him' when executing a submission hold, also demanding that his hand be raised a second time after winning. The crowd reaction was very dull in this instance, but his other dark matches with Shelton Benjamin definitely showed Cena in a better light. Cena would go on to become one of the most successful performers in professional wrestling history, while Scott Vick would stay in developmental and never end up making it to the main roster. It's often claimed he was mean't to debut in the controversial Katie Vick storyline with Kane, but obviously it was cut short due to its involvement with necrophilia.
