10 Name-Drops You Never Thought WWE Would Allow (But They Somehow Did)

5. Triple H Craps On AEW

We arrive now at the first unlikely mention of WWE's latest compelling rivals in All Elite Wrestling.

AEW themselves haven't shied away from taking a few shots at a company which the likes of Cody Rhodes, Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho have long since left behind. Digs on WWE's awful writing and cringey characters feel like a mainstay on the programme, even at this early stage.

Yet, WWE are known for not drawing attention to anyone who Vince McMahon deems a serious threat and that's why mentions of AEW on the company's programming have been few and far between since Tony Khan's investment came into existence.

With that being said, Hall of Fame speeches are famous for being no holds barred affairs and this often leaves the door open for the odd cheeky name-drop. So, when D-Generation X took to the stage at the 2019 edition of the event, you knew the group of childish anti-heroes would have a few loaded quips up their sleeves.

One man you didn't expect to add fuel to the AEW fire on this night was the COO himself Triple H. However, once he'd dumped all over the 'too sweet' chants from the live crowd, he decided to crap on the 'p*ssant company' that McMahon would buy just to fire Billy Gunn again.

In clearly referencing this insignificant company, Triple H showed his (and WWE's) hand and the war between the two became a reality before our very eyes.
