10 Nastiest Backstage Incidents In Wrestling History

9. The British Bulldog vs. Dynamite Kid

First cousins Davey Boy Smith and Tom Billington had worked together in England almost from the very first, and had been scouted and recruited together by Bret €˜The Hitman€™ Hart€™s older brother Bruce for Stampede Wrestling in Calgary, Canada. Although they were most famous for working as a tag team, they would initially be paired against one another: a storyline feud that quickly became a case of life imitating art. The British Bulldogs couldn€™t stand one another. Partly, this was due to the fact that practically no one liked Billington. The man was a bitter, violent bully with a mean streak and a Napoleon complex, who enjoyed nothing more than baiting and then beating his victims to a pulp. And then, of course€ there were all the drugs. Both men were on massive amounts of steroids, not to mention the more recreational narcotics, including cocaine, crack, morphine and prescription meds. The final straw for the team came when Smith decided to return to the WWF as a singles star, and pulled the team out of an upcoming Japanese tournament without informing Billington, by telling All-Japan Pro Wrestling that the Dynamite Kid had been involved in a serious car accident and couldn€™t compete. To make matters worse, Billington then discovered that Smith had trademarked the British Bulldog name for himself, and that he wasn€™t legally allowed to perform under it any longer. Smith would continually inform promoters that Billington attempted to work with that this was the case, further fuelling his unstable cousin€™s temper. The years of pent-up aggression finally boiled over in 1994, when Smith booked an indie show only a few miles from Billington€™s house in England. Somewhat predictably, Dynamite blew his top, turning up at the arena fully intending to hospitalise his younger cousin. Fortunately for the British Bulldog, he€™d been informed that Dynamite would be showing up, and locked his dressing room door before informing the police, who removed Billington from the building before the little psycho could do any serious damage.
