10 New Directions After Last Night’s AEW Dynamite

3. The Grand Slam Tournament

Yes, yes Tony Khan is running another tournament for troublesome belts. It's the 'GRAND SLAM TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS' though, but even that flashy title won't be enough to convince some fans that yet another tourney was the way to go in the wake of CM Punk's comments and eventual suspension.

It is what it is.

Bryan Danielson motored past Hangman Page in the first quarter final, and Sammy Guevara will wrestle Darby Allin on Friday's Rampage to determine Jon Moxley's opponent. Meanwhile, Chris Jericho awaits the 'American Dragon' on next week's Dynamite. Light the fuse, and all that good sh*t.

Tony's 'Grand Slam' tournament will end in New York two weeks from now. That's when AEW will move on from Punk full-time (or so it seems) and power through the rest of the year with a champion who should offer more stability.

That'll be the promotion's hope, because they really can't continue vacating belts willy nilly.
