10 New Directions For AEW After Double Or Nothing 2023

9. This International Title One-On-One

This is a must.

Swerve Strickland and Orange Cassidy previewing what they'd be capable of in a full-blown singles match was the highlight of that 'Blackjack Battle Royal'. Both men worked some slick exchanges, and the live crowd in Vegas was right up for seeing Orange gently nudge Swerve to the floor.

Forget Strickland working one-on-one vs. Keith Lee for now - that's old news, and AEW has definitely missed the boat on turning that into something fans yearn to see. People appeared to move on at Double Or Nothing, and the vote is in: Swerve challenging Cassidy for the International Title needs to happen.

Strickland would be a higher-profile challenger than Orange is used to as well. This is the sort of match that could easily nail down a solid midcard place on a coming pay-per-view. Hell, build it properly and they'd have people standing in Wembley Stadium this August. Why not?!
