You didn't need an eagle eye to spot what Swerve Strickland was doing following his fairly routine win over Dustin Rhodes (who replaced the injured Keith Lee) on Saturday night. Swerve warned the company never to disrespect him again, and said next year will belong to him more than anybody else.

Dude could be correct there.

Swerve performed the classic 'title around my waist' gesture for the cameras on his way back up the ramp post-match. On comms, the announcers spotted this and said Strickland is right to target gold heading into the new year. After all, he's been on a tear during the second half of 2023.

Good things lie in wait for Swerve. He's been rather candid about not being ready during his WWE run, one which fizzled out once he hit the main roster. Now? Now things are different. Strickland is AEW World Title bound, and few will have any complaints when he bags the belt.
