10 New Directions For AEW After WrestleDream 2023

3. Darby Allin Vs. Nick Wayne

Sit tight and wait on an explanation from Nick Wayne for why he turned his back on Darby Allin this past weekend. Wayne aligned with Christian Cage after stiffing Darbs mid-TNT Title match, and that won't go unpunished. This could be just the break Nicky boy was waiting for.

Fingers crossed going rogue actually brings out some personality in Wayne. He's been presented as more of a young lad who does lots of spots and is excited to be in AEW, and...that isn't enough to resonate with fans long term. More was needed, and a heel turn could be the tonic.

All Elite even wheeled out his mother to act shocked by her son's actions.

Wayne and Allin will naturally slide into a feud after WrestleDream, and it should lead to some seriously killer matches. Another pitch: Wayne tones down some of his flashier spots and instead focuses on character work/heel tactics during matches. He'll be better for it!
