8. Alpha Vs. Authors

To put it mildly, NXT TakeOver: The End was not a great night for American Alpha. First of all they were defeated by The Revival, losing their NXT Tag Team Championships in the process. The match was an absolute barnstormer from start to finish, arguably the best of the night. It showcased everything that was great about tag team wrestling.

Things went from bad to much, much worse after the bell however, as Gable & Jordan were attacked by two big dudes later revealed as the Authors of Pain. The Authors are also seemingly under the tutelage of the legendary Paul Ellering, best known for managing the Road Warriors/Legion of Doom. Not a bad dude to steer your ship, that's for sure.

I would expect to see American Alpha distracted from their tag title quest by the Authors throughout the summer. We're not clear at all what to expect in the ring from the two big guys, but if any duo can help them through some matches and help establish them American Alpha will be ready, willing and Gable to be that duo.

Sorry about that.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
