10 New Directions For WWE After WrestleMania 40's Press Conference

2. Cody Rhodes Finishing His Story

Who can say for sure whether or not this was WWE's plan all along when Cody Rhodes stepped aside for The Rock on last week's SmackDown? There, Cody said he was coming for Roman Reigns...but not at WrestleMania. At the press conference, he changed his mind and said he wanted Roman in Philly.

It'd be a surprise if WWE didn't see things through now.

A lot of fans were p*ssed that Rhodes didn't win the gold at 'Mania 39 last year, and it'd be risky to book repeat failure in 2024 after yet another Royal Rumble win. No, Triple H surely won't do that. He'll give Cody the Undisputed Title at WrestleMania 40, and let him "finish the story".

It's arguably time for Reigns to drop the strap anyway, and he can spin out into business with The Rock afterwards. WWE better not change course again between now and 'Mania, or they could lose some fan interest.

This is Cody's time.
