7. Sonya Deville

The Velveteen Dream
WWE

It’s not just the Mae Young Classic participants who are amongst the women impressing at the Performance Center. MYC absentee Sonya Deville is another who’s starting to turn a few heads with the progress she’s been making as of late.

Deville also appeared on that recent season of Tough Enough, under her real name Daria, though she was eliminated from the show fairly early on. Still, the elimination clearly didn’t do her too much harm, because just a few months down the line the company came knocking and offered her a WWE contract.

Two years on, and she has a handful of NXT appearances under her belt, while she also features regularly at live events. In fact, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer recently commented after the NXT San José house show that she’s “improved tremendously” and is really starting to understand her character much better.

Also, prior to WWE she co-presented the UFC AfterBuzz show on YouTube, so she’s presumably got some personality to go with that in-ring improvement.
