9. He Got Shelly Martinez (Ariel) Fired Due To Argument

Story: Shelly Martinez was a WWE diva that worked on the ECW brand mainly. She was paired up with the vampire-like character Kevin Thorn and her name was Ariel on the show. She wrestled once in a while although was mostly a manager for Thorn. In May 2007, Shelly was released by WWE and she says it was due to Batista. Here's how she explained it in a 2013 interview: "Batista and I had an aggressive conversation backstage and he said something that were unnecessary and uncalled for. If it was outside of wrestling, I'm pretty sure it could have been a legal problem for both Batista and WWE. But this is wrestling, and it€™s a man's business, so I fired back and they fired me. I was just a vampire girl in the fake ECW; he was Batista, and they wanted to accommodate him." Another interview with Shelly revealed that it was because Batista was dating another diva (believed to be Melina), he broke things off with her and Shelly was just standing up for her friend. Batista dated several divas, so it certainly sounds like a believable story. Why People Believe It: A guy like Batista had a lot of power. Like Shelly said, she was just a diva in ECW and he could do something like that to cause somebody to lose their job. Should We Believe It: It was likely a true story. She had been gone from WWE for a long enough time that she was likely willing to tell it knowing she could probably not return to the company. A few years ago there was a post by Shelly on Twitter with her saying they patched things up and it was "peace and closure" so they were back to being cool again.
