10 Most Notorious Batista Urban Legends

7. He Was Beat Up By Booker T During A Backstage Altercation

Story: Batista and Booker T were in California on May 8, 2006 at a photo shoot for the annual August SummerSlam event. Batista had developed a reputation as a cocky guy who rubbed people the wrong way. Booker T decided to shut him up. Apparently the two men went into a private room to settle their issues. Booker knocked him down and dominated the altercation although there weren't a lot of witnesses to it. Batista did appear to have a black eye when he appeared on television following the incident. In a WWE.com interview about it, Batista explained why he had problems: "Some guys say I€™ve been running around claiming to be the top-money draw in the company, that I€™m carrying the WWE on my back. I never said anything like this, the rumors break my heart. I would never disrespect guys like Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, and Triple H with comments like these. I am not a pr**k!" Another version of the story comes from Fit Finlay, who did a shoot interview in 2012 while he was away from WWE for about a year: "I think the story got out there that Booker beat Dave up, which is not true. Booker was the one with the swollen eye. Booker didn't want to finish the fight. Dave goes, 'We're going to sort this all out right now.' Booker said, 'Nah, I'm going to come to your house in the dark,' and all that stuff." There's the common theory that Booker won the fight, but Finlay suggests that Batista did more damage. Their issues ended there since they worked together many times after that. Why People Believe It: There were visible scars on Batista's face shortly after the incident, so people tend to believe that Booker won their altercation. Should We Believe It: It probably wasn't one of those things where two guys went into a room, Booker knocked him on his ass and walked out celebrating. It was likely a scuffle that was broken up or they both came to their senses before anything major happened. The story of Booker winning appears to be true although it likely wasn't as big of a deal as it sounds.
