Story: The "Nature Boy" persona for Ric Flair means that he has lived a lifestyle riding in limousines, flying in jets, spending $20,000 on suits and basically living the life of a champion. After four marriages, four divorces and four children, Flair doesn't have a lot of money to his name. You would think that a guy that made millions of dollars during his 30+ years in the public eye would have a lot of money saved in the bank so that he wouldn't be in a position where he became nearly bankrupt, but that's what happened with him. There have been all kinds of stories about him either spending too much money in public places (known to consume a lot of alcohol) or not paying back debts. He's failed to pay taxes. He's been evicted from homes. It's hard to know how much debt he has in his life and it's not like he went to jail for it, but it's definitely been a problem for him. Why People Believe It: There's plenty of information out there about it although Flair rarely discusses any of it. Should We Believe It: Yes it's true as far as we know. There was a very detailed article about Flair's money woes on Grantland in 2011 that exposed a lot of Flair's money problems. He is in massive debt and likely has to keep working for the rest of his life to try to pay it off although it's realistic to think that he might never be able to pay it off. If you ever meet Ric Flair don't ask for marriage tips or money advice. He's probably great at talking about other stuff, but those two subjects are not his strengths.
