10 Most Notorious Ric Flair Urban Legends

5. He Became WCW Champion At Starrcade 1993 Due To Sid's Scissor Attack

Story: In September 1993, Sid Vicious and Arn Anderson got into a huge fight at their hotel while they were in England for a tour. Their first fight was broken up, but then Sid came back at Arn with scissors in his hands. Arn ended up with 20 stab wounds while Sid had various cuts on his body. They were treated at a hospital and then sent home the next day. Both of them were going to be fired, but management just chose to fire Sid since he started it and Arn was still around. The reason this involves Flair is because Sid was scheduled to challenge WCW World Heavyweight Champion Vader at Starrcade 1993, which was WCW's biggest show of the year. With Sid fired, Flair stepped in as a babyface challenger that put his career on the line against Vader's World Title. That's a version of the story. Whether it's all true or not is interesting. Why People Believe It: Sid and Vader were working together a lot that year, so it is likely that was the planned Starrcade 1993 main event. Should We Believe It: It's probably true. Flair was a much better opponent for Vader, though, so it ended up working out in the end. He didn't last as a babyface for too long.
