9. She Got Angry At WWE Writers That Used Insider Wrestling Terms
Story: Former WWE writer Court Bauer, who was with WWE in the mid 2000s, shared a story with WrestlingInc about how writers were in the room with some former wrestlers that were sharing ideas. Guys like Ted Dibiase, Dusty Rhodes and Michael PS Hayes were all talking about doing bleeding in matches after doing blade jobs. Even Vince McMahon spoke about his own experiences. Since Bauer ran a company called Major League Wrestling before, he talked about the experience in MLW when he was cut open and was gushing blood. According to Bauer, everything was fine until Stephanie McMahon asked to speak to him privately. Here's how Bauer explained his interaction with Stephanie: "She told me never to do that again. I said, 'Why?' She said, 'Only the boys can talk about getting color.' I said, 'Well, I was in wrestling. You hired me for my experience in wrestling. I've been in wrestling since 1998. That was 6-7 years ago. This is 2005. This is a little shady.' But that's what she wants and I was like, 'Fine. No problem.'" Even though WWE hired Bauer because of his experience working in wrestling, they didn't want him using an insider wrestling term like "blading" because that's only for "the boys" that are in the ring. Bauer had other complaints about Stephanie being difficult to work for too. Why People Believe It: There are all kinds of stories about Stephanie being a tough boss, so it's definitely possible. Should We Believe It: Yes. It's believable that she would snap at a guy using a wrestling term even though he's working for a wrestling company. There are all kinds of horror stories about her behavior towards writers, so it sounds like her snapping at a guy like that probably did happen.
