Story: There was a story in the mid-1990s in the National Enquirer that said that one of the top actresses in the world, Jennifer Aniston of Friends fame at the time, had fallen in love with Rey Mysterio Jr., who was in WCW at the time. When Mysterio wrote his autobiography several years ago, he mentioned the story: I remember in 1997 there were some stories going around that I was dating Jennifer Aniston. The National Enquirer even printed a story about how we were an item. I have no idea what that was about or where it came from. Maybe somebody wanted to get my name out there and started the rumor. Anyways, I thought it was funny. I even showed the story to my wife best coming from me, no? One thing I never let on about: I was the first guy to grab the magazine. And I still have a copy. Like a lot of things in the National Enquirer, its legitimacy was questionable. Mysterio never even met Aniston and we have no idea if she even knew who he was. Why People Believe It: Any time a celebrity is linked to a wrestler it's something wrestling fans want to believe just because it sounds cool. Aniston is one of the most famous actresses in the last 20 years. Should We Believe It: No. It's the National Enquirer. They post a lot of stuff that is garbage. It's pretty funny that Mysterio even mentioned it, though.
