When the former Prince Devitt popped up in NXT back in 2014, you just knew he was going to be the guy in WWE.

Fans couldn’t get enough of Bálor and would make the ground shake whenever his music hit. The higher ups took notice of this and quickly inserted him into the main event picture. After winning the NXT Title, he went on to have a record breaking 292-day reign with the belt, a feat that has only recently been broken by Adam Cole. Putting on stellar matches week after week, seemingly growing a new ab after every one, Bálor was soon drafted sixth overall by Raw in the 2016 Brand Split. Immediately winning the Universal Title, Bálor was finally where he was meant to be. Except his shoulder had to explode, causing him to relinquish said title and sit out for seven months.

With management never quite getting behind him again, Bálor went on hiatus in late 2019 and to the surprise of the wrestling world, returned back to the yellow brand on the debut episode of NXT on USA. Sporting a new haircut and a more violent attitude, the Bálor of old was back.

Expect Bálor’s second run with NXT to be much like the first: MOTY candidates galore, before returning back to the world title scene. Hopefully, this time injury-free.
