10 NXT Rookies WWE Called Up Too Early

2. Apollo Crews

With all due respect to Titus O'Neil and his Worldwide agency, it's probably going to take more than a charismatic manager to help Apollo Crews rescue what is fast turning into a nightmare time on the main roster.

Curiously, there is nothing in particular that you'd say is missing from Crews' skill-set. He has a solid set of moves, is excellent at selling (for evidence, check out the way he was kicked halfway across the ring by Braun Strowman), and he's at least half-decent on the mic.

His character, however, is completely directionless, a consequence of the fact that the writers have shunted him from Raw to SmackDown and then back to Raw again without ever giving him the chance to find his feet.

Crews has the raw tools, but at the moment that's all they are. A couple of extra years in NXT could have helped him unlock his obvious potential, and if the company is serious about making him a star they should probably think about a reboot.
