10 NXT Stars WWE Let Slip Right Through Their Fingers
5. Solomon Crowe
Sami Callihan signed with WWE in May 2013, a time when independent talents were actually flourishing on the main roster and in NXT. Thus, fans were excited for what he would bring to the table once he arrived, especially when word of his new "hacker" gimmick got out.
It felt like forever before he finally debuted on NXT TV in February 2015, and by that point, it had already been two years since he signed with the company. But fans remained optimistic regarding his future in NXT, even after his initial appearance underwhelmed. And he had a less-than-stellar debut match against Bull Dempsey. And then proceeded to lose every other match he was involved in.
From the get-go, it was painfully apparent that Creative had no long-term plans for him, making him a background player in the promotion as a result. Following a lengthy losing streak that lasted the better part of 2015, he asked for and was granted his release from NXT in November.
It wouldn't be a stretch to say Solomon Crowe's arrival was among the most anticipated in NXT's history, so for him to never be given a real chance to shine was disappointing to say the least. On the bright side, he left on good terms, so a return is always possible. Hopefully they soon realise what they missed out on with him and get him back on board.
