10 Observations From An Evening With Kurt Angle

6. Chris Benoit Was One Of A Kind

Towards the end of the evening, Chris Benoit's name came up in conversation and Kurt seemed to be able to separate the performer from the man and the act that he committed in June 2007.

Angle spoke about his memorable title match with Benoit at the Royal Rumble in 2003 and how those 36 minutes in that ring were one of his favourite experiences as a wrestler.

It was interesting that Kurt remarked that Chris was the one opponent he felt he could really let go and properly have some fun with in the ring because Benoit was so technically gifted that they could bounce off each other really well and not have to over think the match or how it would be coming across to the audience.

Kurt went on to say that in all the years he€™s competed in wrestling from his years in WWE to his decade in TNA, that there was no wrestler like Chris Benoit and he still seems to really fondly remember their battles back in the early 2000€™s.
