Even though the main crux of the show was all about the Attitude Era's impact, that doesn't necessarily mean that both Jim Ross and Jim Cornette were wholly positive about the period. In fact, there was some criticism levied at fans clamouring for Attitude to make a return nowadays.

Cornette's take on the Attitude Era is perhaps the most interesting. On the creative team at the time, he hated the idea of Brian Pillman pulling a gun on Steve Austin during the November 4, 1996 episode of Monday Night Raw. In Cornette's mind that was taking things just a bit too far, not to mention completely unnecessary.

Paraphrasing Cornette, he said that such hot-shot booking made it difficult for the WWF to follow up with anything meaningful. "Couldn't Follow A Shooting With A Stabbing" were Cornette's exact words on the situation.

It's hard to argue with his point, the WWF had nowhere to go once guns had been introduced. A simple match, or even a hate-filled brawl, between Pillman and Austin would have seemed like a let down.
