10 Observations From WWE Live In London 2016
3. Chris Jericho Is The Master And The Reigns Hate Persists
Our penultimate match of the evening was Chris Jericho versus Roman Reigns. Given Jericho's recent highly-entertaining antics, it's no surprise that his iconic theme was greeted with loud cheers. Y2J, in an attempt to turn the tide, cut a hilarious pre-match promo calling fans stupid idiots, plonkers, four-eyes, fatboys and every other lame bully insult he could come up with.
It was masterful.
Obviously, Jericho is one of the best talkers in the game and after more than 25 years on the job knows exactly what to do out there, but it really is incredible to watch just how he expertly he controls a crowd as well as the pace and flow of a match. The Big Dog entered to the customary 'split' reaction - the kids clearly still adore him but their voices can't compete with the angry adults.
The match itself was great, starting somewhat slowly but with a hot closing stretch. There were many false finishes, with Jericho kicking out of the Superman Punch and Reigns weathering a Codebreaker. In the end, Reigns got the win after a Spear.
Both men were on form here and put in a hell of a shift. Jericho may be in his mid-40s but the effort he puts in shames many half of his age. He's a veteran who is not resting on his laurels and doing everything he can to put on a great show and help the younger guys coming up. It's very refreshing to see and makes Jericho an invaluable asset in the current climate.
