10 Odd One Out Wrestling Champions
7. Oklahoma
WCW's Cruiserweight Division, particularly in its early days, is rightfully lauded as a turn in American wrestling. The Division's Championship was held by names such as Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, and Rey Mysterio. In the case of these three, it propelled them to become industry legends. Though, it would be fair to hold mixed views about WCW's Cruiserweight Division
While Eric Bischoff's revamped vision of the former WCW Light Heavyweight Championship was a stroke of ingenuity and a significant part of WCW's mid-'90s success, his attention was taken away by the top of the card. Despite the argument that everything good about this period of WCW tanked by the end of the decade, the Cruiserweight Championship was among peak-WCW booking's greatest casualties.
Its death knell came at WCW Souled Out 2000, when Madusa (one of the better later champions) was defeated by Oklahoma, writer Ed Ferrara's wincing Jim Ross impersonation that mocked the beloved commentator's Bell's Palsy. Though he held the belt for just two days - the punchline saw him stripped of it due to exceeding the title's weight limit - the WCW Cruiserweight Championship never recovered.
