WWE’s Women’s Revolution might not be perfect, and the company were several years behind the curve in implementing it, but we should all be thankful for the way the division has evolved since 2015. The days of rampant objectification are mostly behind us now, and fortunately, it doesn’t look like they’re ever coming back.

The volume of demeaning gimmick matches to be forced upon the company’s women over the decades is almost incomprehensibly huge. Pillow fights, mud wrestling matches, bikini contests, and an endless stream of different ‘strip’ matches: this was the women’s division’s backbone up until a few years ago, and the Revolution has killed them off, hopefully for good.

WWE’s propensity for boneheadedness means their return can never be completely ruled out, but there would likely be mass outrage if they booked a Bra & Panties match for the next PPV. Women’s wrestling has finally reached a level to where they’re pushed on skill, not aesthetics. The company remain stuck in the past in a number of different ways, but revisiting these stipulations would take them right back to the stone age.
