10 Old WWE Gimmick Matches That Need To Say In The Past

4. Good Housekeeping Match

The Good Housekeeping match was WWE’s attempt at embarrassing Jeff Jarrett live on air. It was 1999, and Double J was planning on leaving for WCW at the end of his expiring WWE contract. Unfortunately, he was still Intercontinental Champion at the time, and Vince McMahon was therefore desperate to remove the title from him, despite the fact that his contract expired one day before No Mercy.

Jarrett, ever the worker, was able to milk an additional $300,000 from Vince to compete on the pay-per-view, where he faced Chyna. The stipulation made various household items like mops, brooms, and cream pies perfectly legal, turning the bout into an oddly-themed hardcore brawl, with little excitement throughout (though Jarrett slapping Chyna with a fish was oddly entertaining).

Chyna took the victory and the title, but was left just as embarrassed as Jarrett. Double J walked to WCW afterwards, but if the goal was to leave him red-faced, WWE failed. The man essentially scored $300k for a single day’s work, and while Good Housekeeping certainly stands as one of the worst matches of his WWE career, Jeff was probably laughing all the way to the bank.
