Wrestling isn't always a young man's game.

On the face of it, professional wrestling is undoubtedly a young man's game. These are men and women putting their bodies through absolute hell for the entertainment of the masses, and whilst many of our heroes have longevity on their side there are only so many bumps one can take.

This is even more true in the modern era, where a new generation of young superstars are bursting through to replace those of the past, a new era of late 20s and early 30-year-old performers hungry to not only grab the brass ring, but to pull it down and devour it.

Even so, WWE has had a tendency over the years to rely on older talent to headline the biggest shows of the year, as we saw this past Sunday at Survivor Series 2016. Goldberg and Brock Lesnar headlined that show, two men of a different era closing out a night full of new talent.

Where does Goldberg/Lesnar stand in the history of elderly pay-per-views? Here are the 10 oldest pay-per-view main events in WWE history, taking the combined ages of the two combatants at the time of the event.

One side note however, only one-on-one matches were under consideration for this piece. If this wasn't the case it would just be a list of the oldest Royal Rumbles, which would be no fun at all.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
