Which brings us to this past Sunday, the second oldest main event in WWE history but without doubt the most shocking. Survivor Series 2016 saw Goldberg, one month shy of his 50th birthday, return to the ring for the first time in 12 years to take on 39-year-old Brock Lesnar.

Many expected Goldberg to put up a fight, but almost everyone expected Lesnar to win. The absolute opposite happened, as Goldberg destroyed Lesnar in under two minutes in a squash that will have fans talking for years to come. Was it the right decision? Maybe yes, maybe no.

What we must remember is that his was a true superhero returning to defeat the big bad bully, and that is what professional wrestling should be at its heart. That the bully is almost 50 isn't so important.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
