It might seem strange to see an NXT talent here, but if Christian wanted his last match to be more about contributing to the future of wrestling and going out on his back then about a final moment of glory for his own sake, Kevin Owens is by far the most logical choice of opponent. Having recently arrived in NXT after carving a path of bloody destruction through Ring of Honor as Kevin Steen, Owens current storyline seems to revolve not only around NXT Champion Sami Zayn, but around being a sadistic maniac who has no qualms whatsoever about sending his opponents out on a stretcher. What better way to add to this persona than to have Owens be the man who ends Christians career? Given the mutual mic skills of both men, the build-up would be fantastic, and the match would likely be a classic between a pair of trash-talking Canadians who have never previously met in any ring. Christian vs. Owens in NXT might not be the high-profile retirement match fans are clamoring for, but in terms of securing the next generation of professional wrestling, it might just be best for business.
