10 Overlooked Positives From WrestleMania 32
7. Baron Corbin Wins The André Memorial Battle Royal
WrestleMania XXX's inaugural André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal was presented with all the dignity and reverence the legendary big man deserved. Cesaro usurping expected winner The Big Show to earn a dramatic victory was viewed as a huge moment in kickstarting the Swiss Superman's long overdue push, and gave the melange a distinct air of legitimacy.
The following twelve months rendered the accolade meaningless, as Cesaro dropped off the radar despite his popularity, and the second André Battle Royal was shunted to the pre-show. A clutch of over superstars were dismissed one by one as The Big Show righted the perceived wrong from New Orleans, completing a depressingly inevitable 'WrestleMania moment' precisely nobody in attendance wanted to see.
Dallas' Battle Royal was at least back on the main card, albeit in the 'popcorn' position before the main event. Yet though the trophy again went to a generally useless, lumbering big man, it didn't go to a generally useless, lumbering big man in his forties, as the WWE tried to create a new star out of Baron Corbin. Yes, it's a shame of all the NXT guys who could have lifted the gold statue, it was Baron Corbin. But it could have been The Big Show again. Let's be thankful for that.
