10 Past WrestleMania Main Events Worse Than Reigns Vs. Triple H
9. Hulk Hogan Vs. King Kong Bundy - WrestleMania 2
The story behind Hulk Hogan vs. King Kong Bundy was expertly crafted, with the massive heavyweight nearly ending The Hulkster's career as a result of several splashes that broke countless ribs. But that is where intrigue in the WrestleMania 2 main event ends. The fact of the matter is that fans recognized Bundy for what he truly was: the villain of the week for Hogan. He was big and physically imposing but Bundy was not a star on the level of Hogan. He was not even as hot as Jake Roberts or Randy Savage, two midcard villains of that time. He was a serviceable big man, who had much more speed and agility than others his size, but was a largely generic heel who relied on the guidance of Bobby "The Brain" Heenan to keep him over with fans. The Hogan-Bundy match was a predictable main event on a card that easily ranks as one of the worst in WrestleMania history. There was no drama, no real excitement and the result was another Hogan victory that further established Hulkamania while essentially killing off another high-profile heel.
