2. Kurt Angle
Copyright: WWE: The Best Of King Of The Ring Blu-rayThe only Olympic gold medalist in WWE history is Kurt Angle. When he started on WWE TV in 1999 he was three years removed from winning the gold for the United States in Atlanta 1996. To WWE's credit, they pushed Angle's Olympic gold medal on the fans all the time. They mentioned it all the time. When he was a heel, which is the role that he started in, they had him mention it as a way to annoy the fans. When he was a face, it was used to rally the fans behind him. Angle started late in wrestling and he didn't grow up a fan of it, but once he got into it he learned faster than anybody in the history of the business. Within a year or two he was arguably the best performer in WWE and it's fair to say he's one of the best wrestlers ever. To Angle's credit, he was always smart about portraying himself as an American hero. He almost always wrestled with the red, white & blue colors on his gear. When he had Team Angle (Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas) with him they wore the colors too. It just showed how much Angle cared about his country and how it fit his character perfectly. Hopefully Angle returns to WWE one day so that we can hear his theme song (as mentioned the same song that Patriot used) because it would be amazing to hear him get the ovation he deserved. There might be "you suck" chants too although in this case it would be as a tribute to him instead of a way to taunt him. The wrestling business may never have another Kurt Angle. It's not easy to win an Olympic gold medal and then go on to become one of the best wrestlers ever. That's why he's a special American wrestler.
