10 Most Patriotic American WWE Stars Ever

3. The "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes

YoutubeYoutubeDusty Rhodes was nicknamed the "American Dream" simply because he was a guy that represented the common working man in America. The name fit him because Dusty did not have the look of a bodybuilder or a guy that was in the gym all the time. He was big, but he was so damn entertaining that it didn't matter, nor did it hurt him. He was the biggest babyface in the NWA through the 1980s as the main rival of Ric Flair. There's a reason his "Hard Times" promo is still considered arguably the greatest promo ever nearly 30 years later. It's because he came across like a hero to the people as he told them that the World Title belonged to the people, not Ric Flair. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9py4aMK3aIU It's a shame that his WWE career wasn't better. It should have been. Vince McMahon probably didn't want to push him since Dusty was the main booker in the NWA in the 1980s and when Vince brought him in they dressed him in ridiculous polka dots. He never really had a chance to be the star that he was. For a lot of fans, Dusty Rhodes represented everything that was great about America. He was the man of the people as much as any wrestler in the history of the business.
