5. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan
WWE.comWhen you think of a wrestler carrying the American flag to the ring then the first name that should come to mind is Jim Duggan because he always did it. When you add in his trademark 2x4, his patented "HOOOOOOOOOO!" yell and ability to lead the crowd in USA chants, Duggan was always a guy that represented America proudly. Duggan had a successful career in WWE working mostly as a midcard babyface. He made his first big splash when he was feuding with Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff (two foreign heels) and from that point on he became known as an American hero. Looking back at Duggan's career, his greatest accomplishment was winning the first Royal Rumble in 1988. He didn't win any titles in WWE. A lot of the time he was booked in comedy roles or made fun of by the heel announcers for being dumb. But you know what? The fans always loved him. I'll never forget seeing Hacksaw at a live event in the early 90s here in southern Ontario. He got in the ring, he started chanting USA and it was pretty quiet in there. Nobody really chanted with him. Then he shrugged his shoulders, did it again and suddenly we all joined in even though we were Canadian, but we liked him so much that we wanted to support him! You could see how much he loved being a wrestler. He represented America the right way.
