As we all know, one match in professional wrestling doesn’t necessarily end a feud. There are a lot of big battles taking place at WrestleMania every year, and many of them still have some unresolved issues after the show ends. That’s what Backlash was for, to separate the men from the boys, and the women from the girls. You may have got lucky at Mania, but at Backlash, there would be hell to pay!

Somehow, someway, the only re-match we got at this year’s post Mania pay-per-view was Ryback vs. Kalisto. Triple H didn’t want his rematch? Dean Ambrose was fine with losing to Brock? Backlash was a show where the big Mania matches could be done again for our enjoyment, possibly with a stipulation in place, all wrapped up with a cool name. It was just starting to feel like tradition.

WWE had Backlash going for 10 years, then got tired of it or something, and replaced it with the less cool sounding Payback. Payback? Well, that name is step up from Beware of Dog, but not by that much.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
