10 Perfect WWE Main Roster Rivalries For Tye Dillinger

7. Dolph Ziggler

It's been overstated as of late, but Dolph Ziggler's state of affairs is currently a fairly sorry one. Once one of WWE's brightest stars, Ziggler has since been relegated to the thankless task of putting over incoming talent like Apollo Crews, Kalisto, and Shinsuke Nakamura. He isn't even that popular in this role; one of the biggest complaints about his Backlash clash with Nakamura is that Ziggler was allowed to get in too much offence.

It wasn't that long ago that things were looking more optimistic, however – Ziggler's late-2016 series with The Miz was well-received. One of the hallmarks of this rivalry was The Miz's assertion that Ziggler was past his prime and no longer relevant. Once used as babyface fire, this trait could similarly be used to reinvigorate Ziggler's heelish venom. Repeating his rivalry with Nakamura, except, you know, better, Ziggler's disgust with the positive fan reaction shown to Dillinger could easily lead to tensions between the two.

Ziggler would make a great first major victory for Dillinger on the main roster before moving on to bigger and better things, and the match itself would have the potential to be a barnstormer. Ziggler getting much more offence in makes more sense against Tye than it did against Shinsuke, and it would be a delight to see Dillinger counter one of Ziggler's superkicks with one of his own. Tye Dillinger has the potential to be a major player for SmackDown, but he needs a stepping stone to reach that level. It's unfortunate, but that's currently the best use for Ziggler that WWE seems to have.
