10 Pivotal NWO Moments On WWE Network's WCW Monday Nitros

7. The Giant Is Kicked Out (December 30th, 1996)

The Giant Hollywood Hogan Souled Out A major twist in the nWo storyline came on November 24th, 1996 at the World War 3 pay-per-view. The night's main event saw The Giant win a 60-man Battle Royal, encompassing three rings, to earn a future shot at the WCW World Title. This, of course, presented an interesting dynamic, with an nWo member having a shot at the top title in the company, which was being held by another nWo member (Hollywood Hogan). Giant wanted his title shot, but he was given excuse after excuse why he couldn't get it yet. Fast forward to Starrcade 1996, where Giant didn't exactly have the best of nights in the eyes of his nWo brothers. First, he lost to Lex Luger, after Luger hit him with a baseball bat provided by Sting. Then, he tried to interfere in the main event of Hogan VS Roddy Piper, but it backfired, and Piper would get the victory. The following night, Hogan was upset and took it out on The Giant, who had enough. He grabbed Hogan and positioned him for a Chokeslam, demanding Hogan grant him his title shot. Hogan finally agreed, but then had the rest of the nWo attack Giant, kicking him out of the group. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=El4bh7sIgIA Unfortunately, this led to the absolute mess that was the Souled Out pay-per-view, with nWo referee Nick Patrick being crooked in every single match, and yet another pay-per-view main event that ended via disqualification because of nWo interference. However, it was the first time that the group had any dissension, after five months of being a cohesive unit. It would usher in a new look for the group, who would go on to be at odds with each other for what seemed like the rest of their existence.
