8. The Giant Joins (September 2nd, 1996)
When the nWo began running roughshod, WCW had a few people that fans could look at as "saviors". Right at the top of that list was The Giant (now known, of course, as Big Show). At seven feet tall, 400 some-odd pounds, with a ridiculous amount of athleticism for someone his size (he used to come off the top rope back then), he was someone that you couldn't realistically picture being dominated like the other members of WCW's roster. It started out innocently enough, with The Giant losing the WCW World Title to Hollywood Hogan at Hog Wild, which was the first pay-per-view after Hogan turned heel and formed the nWo. That's fine. The group had to look strong right away, and Giant would just chase his title relentlessly, right? Wrong. Within a couple weeks, Giant had joined the nWo. With Hogan, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash beating up both the Four Horsemen and the Dungeon Of Doom, Giant ran out, and everyone thought he would be making the save. After a Chokeslam to The Barbarian, and another one to Meng, it was clear that The Giant had turned his back on WCW. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxS5oyV_xqk It was the first of many nWo additions that had fans scratching their heads because it made no sense at all. At face value, it was Giant feeling that being the fourth-most important member of a faction was a bigger deal than trying to be the World Champion again. That's really dumb when you stop and think about it.
