10 Pivotal NWO Moments On WWE Network's WCW Monday Nitros

5. The Rey Mysterio "Human Dart" Backstage Attack (July 29th, 1996)

Rey Mysterio Kevin Nash Lawn Dart Gif It was one of the most famous backstage assaults in the history of the business. When Jimmy Hart came running to the ring during a six-man tag featuring Sting, Lex Luger and Randy Savage VS Ric Flair, Chris Benoit and Steve McMichael, he did a great job in looking like he was breaking character, practically screaming for the men in the ring to come backstage and help. Cameras cut to show Scott Hall and Kevin Nash laying members of the WCW roster out with baseball bats. Arn Anderson, Marcus Bagwell and Scotty Riggs were already down and out, but then Rey Mysterio showed up, attempting a dive onto Kevin Nash. Nash would catch Mysterio in mid-air and proceed to launch him towards the production trailer like a human dart. It was incredibly memorable. Everything was so dramatic. Woman cradled an injured Arn Anderson in her arms and was openly weeping, as if Arn had been shot in the head. Randy Savage made a dead sprint to the limo that Hall and Nash got into, and jumped on, trying to climb into the sunroof of the car as it drove away. Steve McMichael was screaming in anger, vowing revenge on the nWo. There was so much going on that residents in the surrounding area (the show was being held at the Disney MGM Studios in Orlando, Florida) called 911, reporting an actual gang fight taking place outside. The entire thing was beautifully done, showing the carnage and the unpredictability of the nWo. When they were around, especially in the beginning of their existence, you always had to be on your toes, because you never knew when and where they would strike. It's just unfortunate that Rey Mysterio's most watched moment in WCW happened to be him being thrown into a trailer.
