10 Plot Holes From WWE History You Probably Missed

5. The Special Guest Referee Bump

WWE.comWWE.comThis one is obviously less of a particular story and more of a flaw in a common wrestling convention, but it was exemplified well recently. While professional wrestlers withstand punches, various slams and being blasted by weapons, referees often find themselves out for the count if they're hit by anything stronger than a slight breeze. Usually this is fine, but it's often incongruous during matches with the 'Special Guest Referee' stipulation. The most recent example of this point can be found at last years Hell In A Cell where Randy Orton faced Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship, and the match was officiated by none other than HBK himself, Shawn Michaels. During the course of the main event bout, Bryan would incidentally push Orton into a distracted Michaels. And Michaels, despite being sold for years as one of the WWE's most resilient superstars of all time, was rendered completely incapacitated following the collision. It's the type of thing wrestling fans see and think 'that doesn't make sense, but this is wrestling.' The average Joe, who Vince is ever eager to please, will simply see a flawed product.
