10 Positives Heading Into WWE Backlash 2016
5. Bray Wyatt On PPV
Hold the phone guys, because here we have perhaps the most
notable addition to the Backlash card in the form of Bray Wyatt.
That’s not necessarily because he’s the biggest star on the SmackDown roster, instead, this one’s worth noting for the sheer fact that a Wyatt appearance on PPV has become one of the rarer occurrences in WWE.
Wyatt’s only wrestled on two PPVs this year, the first instance arriving in the Royal Rumble match, with the most recent being his six-man tag match alongside Erick Rowan and Braun Strowman against the New Day at Battleground. Furthermore, if you want to find his last one-on-one PPV match, you’d have to look as far back as last October, when he faced Roman Reigns at Hell in a Cell.
Granted there’ve been some injuries along the way, plus the odd appearance in which he showed up but didn’t technically compete, but that doesn’t change the fact Wyatt has become something of a scarce PPV attraction.
I know some people have touted Bray as the heir to Undertaker’s throne, but I’m not sure emulating his PPV schedule was quite what they’d meant by that…
