10 Positives Heading Into WWE Clash Of Champions
1. Roman Reigns Elevates The US Title
Taking a page out of WWE’s book, we’ll close this one with Roman Reigns, even though he’s not even in the Universal Championship picture.
Initially I’d been a fan of his withdrawal from the top-tier title scene and his return to United States Championship contention; it was something of a chance for him to prove all the doubters wrong away from the spotlight of the main event scene.
As it happens though, rather than seeing Reigns drop down the card slightly, this has had a rather different effect in seeing the United States Championship simply rise to Reigns’ level.
Still, that’s by no means a bad thing, because now the US title feels relevant again. After all of that great work that John Cena did with the belt, it kind of dropped off the radar when Alberto Del Rio and Kalisto traded wins earlier on in this year.
Now though, it seems like the US title is back in a more prominent position on the card and, if Reigns emerges victorious on Sunday, it could be set to be elevated even higher in the coming weeks and months.
Love him or hate him, I think it’s fair to say that Reigns has had a rather positive influence on the United States Championship and its standing on the show.
