10 Positives Heading Into WWE SummerSlam 2016
9. New Rivalries
On a similar note, we’ve also seen a number of new rivalries
born en route to this year’s SummerSlam. We’ve already covered the likes of
Balor vs. Rollins and the Miz vs. Crews, but in just about every corner of the
card we’re seeing new feuds come to light.
In the lower echelons, Enzo and Cass’ beef with Jeri-KO is so fresh that the latter of those teams only formed within the last couple of weeks or so. And in the main event we have a titanic clash between Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar, that last took place almost 14 years ago on a throwaway episode of SmackDown.
And even the matches we have seen before have been given a new spin of some sort. In Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler and Roman Reigns vs. Rusev, admittedly we have two showdowns that have taken place already. But with major titles now involved in both feuds, never have the stakes been so high.
Other contests, such as John Cena vs. AJ Styles, may not be quite so novel, but don’t let that detract from the rest of a card that offers a great deal of newness when compared to the norm.
