10 Positives Heading Into WWE SummerSlam 2016
7. Paul Heyman
Sometimes, though, it doesn’t take logical, immersive
writing to draw us into a programme. Sometimes, all it takes is the right kind
of character returning to television, and in Paul Heyman’s re-emergence, that’s exactly
what we’ve got.
I don’t think I’ll ever not enjoy a Heyman promo. And since he’s returned alongside his client Brock Lesnar, Heyman’s been as stellar as ever on the mic, hyping up the imminent Lesnar vs. Orton clash in ways that no one else can.
Everything about the way he presents this match, as well as the overall PPV itself, suggests that this will be a must-see event and one that you simply have to tune into. And even when he’s drifting in to sassy Heyman, declaring that “Brock Lesnar is gonna’ beat yo’ ass at SummerSlam” he still manages to deliver the goods.
This may not bear the same kind of longer-term significance as some of the other entries on this list, but I still can’t see a way in which it hasn’t been a positive to have Heyman back on WWE programming in the build for this year’s SummerSlam.
