10 Possible Swerves For The 2016 WWE Royal Rumble

Could we see some massive returns in Orlando?

Though the road to Royal Rumble has been a rocky one, it's hard not to be excited for the annual centre-piece event, as it's the one night of the year fans legitimately never know what to expect. Even after the disappointing past two instalments, fans still anticipate what we might see on Sunday night, and on paper, the show has the potential to be one the best in some time. The narrative WWE attempts to establish going into the Royal Rumble every year is that anything can happen. It's difficult to buy into that considering the last few Rumble winners could have been seen coming from a mile away, but it truly seems as we have a few candidates that could win the Battle Royal this year and become WWE World Heavyweight champion. This includes Roman Reigns, Triple H and Brock Lesnar in addition to the wild cards such as AJ Styles and Chris Jericho. The Rumble match has been built on shocking moments and unpredictable outcomes, and if WWE wants to make the 2016 Rumble stand out as special, they will consider throwing fans a curve ball or two (that are within the realm of possibility, of course). What can fans expect (or not expect, rather) to occur this year?

10. Kalisto Makes A Shocking Elimination

Few Superstars have risen to a level of super stardom as quick as Kalisto has in the past month. He went from having a breakout performance in the tremendous Triple Threat Tag Team Ladder match at TLC to winning the United States Championship in one of the biggest upsets in Raw history in the matter of a month. Now, he looks to regain the gold from Alberto Del Rio in a rematch at the Royal Rumble. His participation in the Royal Rumble match has yet to be confirmed, but he'd be a highlight reel in the bout with his amazing ariel abilities and death-dying maneuvers, making him a valuable asset to the matchup. From Maven upsetting The Undertaker in 2002 to Bo Dallas tossing out Wade Barrett in his WWE debut in 2013, a Rumble match isn't complete without a shocking elimination. If there's anyone who could (and should) pull it off, it's Kalisto. Sure, having him take out Del Rio from the Rumble would be a fine way to further their feud, but seeing The Lucha Dragon somehow manage to get Big Show over the top rope and down to the floor would undoubtedly solidify him as a star. If R-Truth could simultaneously eliminate Big Show and Mark Henry in the 2010 Rumble, there's no reason he shouldn't be given the same honor. Hopefully it would work out better for Kalisto than it did for Truth.
