10 Potential WWE Royal Rumble 2018 Winners

7. Jinder Mahal

What a difference a year makes. Jinder Mahal wasn’t even in the 2017 Royal Rumble, yet here he is as an outside bet to win the match in 2018. Jinder’s 170-day WWE Championship reign came in for a lot of criticism (and rightly so), but it is unlikely that WWE will abandon the Calgary-native so soon.

If Jinder does not manage to regain the WWE Championship that he recently lost to AJ Styles, then he must be considered a dark horse for the Rumble. It would be further proof of WWE’s seriousness when it comes to portraying the 'Modern Day Maharaja' as a big star, and another clear nod in the direction of the 1.3 billion people of India.

It is more likely that Jinder will be involved in a championship match at the 2018 Royal Rumble, but you never know. It wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Jinder Mahal standing tall at the end of the show in Philadelphia.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
