10 Potential WWE WrestleMania 31 Opponents For Stone Cold Steve Austin

1. John Cena

In the end, there's no match that makes more sense than having the biggest pro wrestling star of all time take on (whether you like it or not) the most recognizable grappler in the world today. Just as John Cena strove to prove himself against The Rock in a battle of then versus now, so too does it make perfect sense for the Chain Gang Leader to represent his generation in this bout. From Austin's point of view, it's logical that he would seek to test himself against the man who's had the most success since his own retirement. Like with The Rock's match, there doesn't need to be much of a story beyond legacy and competition. John Cena doesn't need to turn heel (though the crowds would certainly handle that for him). All we need is a Stunner to kick things off -- the two heroes of the past and present standing together in the ring, acknowledging one another respectfully for whatever reason, and all of a sudden, the Rattlesnake strikes. The moment would be unforgettable and the implication as to what it leads to would be crystal clear. As for the match itself, Cena almost always delivers in main event situations, and the same could be said of Austin during his career. Just one request, though -- can we get Jim Ross to call the action?
