10 PPV Main Events That Killed WCW

9. Strap Match: Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair - Uncensored 2000

The grim reaper was knocking on the door of WCW by the time Uncensored rolled around in March 2000. The ratings had sunk to lows as WWE was doing record business with The Rock and Triple H on top. How did the company combat The Great One and The Game's epic rivalry over on their rival's programming? With yet another in the never ending line of matches between Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair. In what was dubbed a "strap match," Hogan and Flair wrestled a hideous, awful, atrocious match that saw Lex Luger interfere, Flair pull out the same brass knuckles gimmick he had used decades earlier and the Hulkster triumph over evil once again. That the rules were blatantly disregarded, the legends using pinfalls instead of bothering to touch the four corners, as the stipulation called for. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xvaqbd_hulk-hogan-vs-ric-flair-wcw-uncensored-2000-part-2_sport Not only was the match truly awful but the fact that the company continued to rely on guys whose best days were a decade behind them continued to plague them. At a time when WWE was going full throttle with young stars and intriguing stories, WCW reverted back to two over-the-hill stars whose days of drumming up interest had come to an end.
