If you want to nitpick, it wasn’t really the first time that Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair had faced off in a WWE ring. The two had fought in NXT 18 months prior to this, a decent main event match that saw Charlotte come out victorious. But still, the Bianca Belair of February 2020 was not the same as the Bianca Belair of October 2021.

WWE has totally forgotten how to build towards big-time matches. This is particularly true when it comes to first-time matches. There was a time when the WWE landscape was littered with dream matches that the company kept in its pocket, ostensibly for WrestleMania, SummerSlam or some other big show. Charlotte vs. Bianca is absolutely the sort of match that would have been saved for a show worthy of its booking.

Instead, the first main roster between two of the biggest female stars on the roster was thrown out on a draft episode of RAW. In a very-WWE move, the match ended in a disqualification. In an extremely WWE-move, they had another singles match a couple of weeks later. Yes, you guessed it, that ended in a disqualification too.
